Southeast Alaska
Late evening at Sandy Beach in Douglas, Alaska. In Southeast Alaska there are some beautiful beaches that make you feel so glad to be alive. This beach is located in Douglas, Alaska, which is "across the bridge" from Juneau. Juneau and Douglas are adjoined by a Bridge that spans the Gastineau channel. This beach has fine sand, cool breezes and spectacular mountain scenery. Sandy Beach was a "by-product" (called tailings), of the Treadwell Mine, a gold mine which operated until about 1917 in Douglas. To find out more about Juneau and the Douglas area, please visit the Juneau Web. It has fantastic photos, information and links to other sites in Alaska. |
